Fall ’16 Alumni Spotlight: Diane Greene

Diane B. Greene (M.S. CS 1988) is ranked #1 of the 26 most powerful female engineers in 2016 by Business Insider. Diane was a founder and CEO of VMware in 1998 and is currently the Senior Vice President of (cloud) Enterprise Business at Google, one of the most influential roles in the technology industry.

Diane serves on a number of boards, including Intuit, Unity Technologies SF, Google Alphabet, and MIT.  She organized the first Windsurfing World Championship when she was 19, was the women’s National Double handed Dinghy Champion in 1976, and was a three-time Women’s Division Winner of the San Francisco Classic, a long-distance windsurfing race. She is married to fellow alumnus Mendel Rosenblum (M.S. CS 1989, Ph.D. CS 1991), who is now a professor at Stanford. They have two children.
